- Medical herbalist since 2004 and a member of the National Institute of Medical Herbalists, trained at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine — a four-year honours degree covering botany, plant pharmacology, biochemistry, anatomy, physiology, pathology and differential diagnosis, carrying the right to primary diagnosis and to prescribe safely alongside pharmaceutical medicines
- IFM Certified Practitioner (IFMCP) with the Institute for Functional Medicine, trained in Dr Bredesen’s protocol through the IFM (2017)
- Special interests: rheumatoid arthritis, chronic gastrointestinal disease and gut infections, inflammatory conditions, oral health, mould illness, multiple chemical sensitivities, Lyme disease, and hormonal and menopausal health
- Patients from newborns to their nineties — proof, she says, that herbal medicine suits everyone
- Vitalistic philosophy: support the body’s own capacity to heal and regulate itself, guided by modern clinical testing
- Practising across Edinburgh and the Isle of Skye since moving to Skye in 2020
Jean’s definition of success is simple: the patient has fully recovered, no longer needs her care, and can sustain their own good health through diet and lifestyle.
